Trying To Do It Right
I realize that you bought Ally because you have pain or some other problem that you want to get rid of. And I’m with you in that desire; I want you to feel good and not struggle too! But this single-minded focus on getting rid of the pain can carry with it the belief that if everything doesn’t get better, then it means you’re doing something wrong, or there is something wrong with the process. But this is not necessarily true.
The reality is that there are things in life that we can’t control, and an outcome that doesn’t match your expectations doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing something wrong or not doing something that you “should” be doing. It just means that either the change hasn’t happened yet, or it is not this particular process at this particular time that your body is needing.
And paradoxically, much of the success of Ally depends on letting go of your attachment to a specific outcome and learning to be with what is, as it arises, without requiring a certain outcome. The openness and space that this attitude creates is what makes change possible.
I often say that anything is possible, but nothing is guaranteed. The healing journey involves learning to live with the tension created by this and to keep exploring, without attachment to outcome, even when (in fact, especially when) the outcome is not matching your expectations.
